Well, that didn’t last long.
Gordon, in an appearance on “SportsCenter” on Tuesday, said that he and Wade have already talked and made up.
“I hear that and I kinda just am like, I think that was a response to the diss track without going back into the studio,” Gordon said on ESPN. “So I take it with a little pinch of salt.
“But it's really cool, man. Me and D-Wade, we talked a little bit about it. He told me he liked the song. I told him I liked his wine. So everything's good.”
Now to be fair, Wade didn’t seem to care much in the first place. He responded to the diss track on Twitter on Sunday, and even offered up some free advice.
Gordon finished in second in the dunk contest in February despite throwing down an insane dunk over 7-foot-5 Tacko Fall. He lost to Derrick Jones Jr. after Wade gave the Fall dunk just nine points instead of a perfect 10.
While he doesn’t call out Wade by name, he is drinking Wade’s wine throughout the entire video.
“Nine out of 10, can you please fix your lens,” Gordon said in the song. “Nine out 10 got you playing pretend. Nine out of 10, here we go again. Nine out of 10, could have bought the fam a Benz. Nine out of 10, are you making amends? Nine out of 10, probably lost an M.”
Though it’s been more than two months since the dunk contest took place, Gordon is clearly still a little salty he didn’t win the title. But with the NBA on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he finally had the opportunity to share his side of the story.
“People would ask me for it, so I just gave the people what they wanted, just my perspective,” Gordon said on ESPN. “I had to talk a lot about my opinion and my perspective on the dunk contest, so I thought this was a fun, creative, expressive, uplifting way to voice my opinion and tell the world what I was going through and what I was seeing on that day.”
