'DWTS' Pro Allison Holker Blogs Trio Week

It was the most shocking elimination of the season for Dancing With the Stars — and it was a double elimination, so we lost two great competitors, Wanya and Antonio. Wanya was a great dancer; his performances each week blew the audience away, and I loved following his story. Antonio had so much fire, passion, and great growth in the show. He’s an example of why the show is so exciting to watch — you never know what to expect. And it also reminds us that we need the viewers at home to vote for their favorites. Anyone can go home at any time.

We also had trio dances this week, which always brings a new energy out of the contestants. My favorite trio was Wanya, Lindsay, and Witney.

I also was really wowed by Ginger, Val, and Artem — those guys just tossed and threw Ginger around, and I was thoroughly entertained.

But the best dance of the night in my opinion was Nyle and Peta’s duet. It was just perfection. Peta has done a great job choreographing and telling Nyle’s story through movement. Each week, they are pushing the boundaries and growing as a pair. Nyle continues to be vulnerable on that stage, and he conquers the ballroom floor with his incredible spirit.

But we can’t recap the highlights without talking about Paige and Mark — their duet was fiery and sexy. I feel Paige really worked on her technique and fluidity in her movement; she looked like a fierce woman, and I want to see more of this from her. Great job on choreography, Mark. It was inventive, classic, and beautiful.

At this point in the competition, it’s clear anything can happen. Make sure you tune in next week — and remember to vote for your favorites!

Dancing With the Stars airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
