After endorsing Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said in a new interview that he won’t publicly support either candidate — whether it’s Biden or Donald Trump — in 2024. “I think it’s between me and the ballot box,” Johnson said.

In September 2020, the wrestler-turned-actor and self-described “political independent and centrist” broke from his personal tradition by throwing his weight behind the Biden and Kamala Harris ticket, which marked the first time he had ever backed a candidate in his decades-long career.

However, in a new interview with Fox & Friends, Johnson said this time around, he won’t publicly endorse any candidates. “Am I going to do that again, this year? That answer’s no. I’m not going to do that,” Johnson said. “Because what I realized, what that caused back then, was something that tears me up in my guts back then and now, which is division. And that got me.”

Johnson continued, “The takeaway after that, after months and months and months, I started to realize, like, ‘Oh man, that caused an incredible amount of division in our country.’ So I realize now going into this election, I’m not going to do that,” he continued. “I wouldn’t do that, because my goal is to bring our country together. I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there’s going to be no endorsement.”

Regardless of who wins in November, Johnson has pledged to “support 100%” whoever is elected. “I do trust the American people,” Johnson added. “And I trust that whoever they vote for. That’s going to be my president.”

The Rock has long been rumored as one of the entertainers to also harbor political aspirations, but Johnson said that isn’t in the cards any time soon; he has plenty of films in the works — the next installment of Fast & Furious, and the live-action Moana — to keep him busy outside of political office.

“As of now? No, that’s not my intention. I’m not a politician, I’m not into politics. I care deeply about our country. I’m a patriot … and right now, my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pickups and things like that. That’s important to me,” Johnson said.

“In the spirit of bringing people together and bringing our country together, I don’t know if that’s the right move at this point. Possibly. I don’t know, as of now.”
