Dwayne Johnson Calls Rebecca Ferguson a ‘Guardian Angel’ After She Recalls Being 'Screamed At' by Another Star

Dwayne Johnson is showing his support to an old costar and friend.

After Rebecca Ferguson revealed on Monday’s episode of the Reign with Josh Smith podcast that an unnamed scene partner “screamed at” her and caused her to “cry walking off set,” Johnson, 51, weighed in on X (formerly Twitter).

“Hate seeing this,” he wrote in response to a video clip from the interview in which Ferguson, 40, recalled the vulnerable moment, “but love seeing her stand up to bulls---.”

Johnson and the Dune star worked together on the 2014 action flick Hercules, which featured the actor-turned-wrestler in the title role and Ferguson as Ergenia, the Princess of Thrace.

“Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set,” posted Johnson in reference to the Brett Ratner-directed movie.

He added, “I love that woman. I’d like to find out who did this.”

Speculation about Ferguson’s “absolute idiot of a costar” began circulating on social media after clips from the Reign with Josh Smith interview went viral. The Swedish-born actress confirmed only that it was not Hugh Jackman, who she acted with in 2017’s The Greatest Showman and 2021’s Reminiscence, or Tom Cruise, who she costarred with in multiple Mission: Impossible installments.

Recalling that the scene partner was “so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” Ferguson said that in response she “stood there just breaking.”

“I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at,” said the Doctor Sleep star. “But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me. So no one had my back.”

Ferguson added that she told the person to “eff off” and requested to work opposite a tennis ball instead.

“I thought it shouldn’t have to be that way. And I remember going to the director afterward and saying, ‘What is happening?’ … It was great from that moment but it took so long for me to get to that.”

After leading last year’s critically acclaimed drama Silo, Ferguson stars in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two (in theaters Friday) opposite Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and more.

Among Johnson’s upcoming projects are another appearance in the Fast and Furious cinematic universe. The actor-producer will also reprise the role of Maui in both the 2025 live-action adaptation of Disney’s Moana and the animated film’s sequel, set for a Nov. 27 release.
