Director and LGBT rights activist Dustin Lance Black is a signed model now.
Black has landed a contract with Wilhelmina Models, the same agency that counts Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas and Echosmith's Sydney Sierota and Empire's Trai Byers as clients.
"In a time when too many are using our differences to divide us, I want to help lift our differences up as what make us magnificent, what make us powerful," said Black. "Fashion has the potential to help our individuality roar, and right now, we must use every tool in our arsenal to amplify that roar."
Black won an Academy Award in 2009 for Milk, a biographical film based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn), the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California. His latest project, ABC miniseries When We Rise, also shines a light on the LGBT rights movement and its history in the United States.
"Dustin Lance Black is a true visionary talent. He uses his artistry, voice and talent to give voice to individuals and ideas who need to be heard," added Wilhelmina CEO Bill Wackermann.
The agency will work with Black to secure editorial opportunities and fashion campaigns. The screenwriter most recently covered British gay lifestyle magazine Attitude, and from what we can tell, he'll have no problem working the camera.
