dust. have shared a new single, entitled ‘TRUST U SEE’. It marks their first new music of 2024, as well as their first new song since the release of their 2023 debut EP et cetera, etc. Prior to its release, the song served as the Newcastle post-punk band’s perennial set opener. In a joint statement, the band describe their new track as a “visceral sonic exploration of both literal and underlying feelings.”

“Justin [Teale, vocalist/guitarist]’s literal lyrical recount of searching for pain relief and feeling frustrated is paralleled with metaphorical messages of trust, relationships and frustration,” they wrote. The band also noted that recording ‘TRUST U SEE’ was their first time recording in a proper studio, having recorded et cetera, etc. largely at home.

“We were able to have a new outlook on recording and experimentation,” they said. “We were able to be very hands on and take time in post production to get the song to express what we wanted.” To accompany the release of ‘TRUST U SEE’, a music video has also been shared. It was directed by friend and collaborator Nicola Jankovic, and can be viewed below.

‘TRUST U SEE’ arrives shortly after the band released its debut remix EP, titled et cetera, etc. remixes. All five songs from dust.’s debut EP are reworked by Gauci, 700 Feel, Fritz, Soul Wun and Godriguez. “We intentionally withheld prompts or any guide and let each artist take any angle they wanted, with whichever song, and show their own sound,” the band said. “We wanted each song to be different and contrast each other while still keeping the energy of the original on the EP.”

dust. will launch ‘TRUST U SEE’ with two upcoming headlining shows before they head to the UK in support of Interpol: One at Sydney venue Bootlegger’s this Saturday (April 27), and one at Melbourne venue The Night Cat next Friday, May 3rd. Remaining tickets for Sydney can be found here, while tickets for the Melbourne show can be bought here.
