Duran Duran’s “Pressure Off” — a collaboration with Nile Rodgers and Janelle Monáe, co-produced by Mark Ronson, off D2′s forthcoming 14th album Paper Gods — just made its debut, and the sexy, slinky, all-around groovy party track is the legendary group’s best single in years.

“Step out into the future,” frontman Simon Le Bon croons, and indeed, the remix-ready cut sounds fresh and modern, even as it traffics in D2’s tried-and-true signature sounds: super-Chic chickenscratch guitars, thick 'n’ gooey basslines, sassy soul-sister backup vocals, irresistibly effervescent chants of “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh,” etc.

It’s fun, it’s funky, it’s a song-of-the-summer contender, it’s like if “Notorious” and “My Own Way” had a baby… and it’s sure to put a cherry ice cream smile on any Duranie’s face.

Yes, the Wild Boys are back in a big way, and it looks like birthday boy JT and company are about to have a very good year. Paper Gods, which also features contributions from Mr Hudson, Lindsay Lohan, Kiesza, and former Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante, comes out Sept. 18 on Duran Duran’s new record label, Warner Bros.
