Dunes Arts Summer Theatre to hold auditions for 2024 season on Feb. 3 in Michigan City
MICHIGAN CITY — Dunes Arts Summer Theatre will hold auditions for its 2024 season at the following locations:
• The Holdcraft Performing Arts Center, 1200 Spring St., Michigan City, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST Feb. 3
• City Lit Theatre, 1020 West Bryn Mawr, Chicago, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST Feb. 10 and noon to 4 p.m. CST Feb. 11
Non-Equity actors of all ethnic backgrounds, gender identifications and body types are strongly encouraged to audition. Dunes Summer Theatre actors receive $100 per rehearsal week and $50 per performance; living accommodations are also available.
Auditioners should prepare the following:
• Two contrasting monologues no longer than three minutes in total length
• Two contrasting musical selections no longer than 32 bars each (for musical actors only; accompanist to be provided)
To secure an audition time for either location, actors should submit a current headshot and resume to Steve Scott, Artistic Director, at artisticdirectordaf@gmail.com.
Taped auditions, adhering to the criteria above, for actors unable to attend in-person auditions will also be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Scott’s email address.
The 2024 season includes the following productions:
• “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward (May 31-June 16)
• “Talley’s Folly” by Lanford Wilson (June 28-July 14)
• “The Bridges of Madison County,” book by Marsha Norman, music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown (July 26-Aug. 11)
• “The 4th Annual Dunes Broadway Cabaret” (Aug. 15-17)
• “Voices From the Heartland: The 2nd Annual New Plays Festival” (Sept. 19-22)
