‘Dumb and Dumber’ Surprise Reunion: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Share Casting Stories and Defend Sequel — Watch

Dumb and Dumber” is celebrating its 24th anniversary this December, but stars Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey got the celebration started early during a surprise reunion on the April 17 edition of “Conan.” Daniels stopped by the TBS talk show to promote his Hulu drama series “The Looming Tower,” but Carrey crashed the interview and turned the focus to the duo’s classic Farrelly brothers comedy.

“I love being around [Jeff]. I watch everything he does,” Carrey said about his co-star. “He’s the most versatile actor working today. It’s unbelievable what he does. I especially enjoy watching him do interviews because I know you he them, especially the parts where he talks about how working with me changed the course of his life. That I enjoy more than anything.”

While Carrey was joking, Daniels admitted that “Dumb and Dumber” really did change his life. “Shooting ‘Dumb and Dumber’ with Jim, you grab on to the tornado that is Jim Carrey and you hang on,” he said. “It was such a joy. It was a blast.”

Carrey and Daniels reprised their roles for the 2014 sequel, “Dumber and Dumber To,” but critics weren’t as kind to the film as they were to the original. Carrey defended the follow-up film, saying the actors had a “great time” making it even if it wasn’t well received. Daniels then shared a message to sequel haters: “Fuck them!”

There are no plans for a third “Dumb and Dumber” sequel at the moment, but Carrey and Daniels’ appearance together on “Conan” makes it clear their chemistry is still delightful. Watch the two reminisce about Harry and Lloyd in the video below.
