Duff McKagan chats with Kyle Meredith about his solo album Lighthouse, scoring a compliment from Bob Dylan, his work with Guns N’ Roses, and more.

McKagan discusses teaming up with Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam’s record label Loosegroove to release his pre-Guns N’ Roses material, how he still loves being part of GNR, and how seeing small town America on tour influenced his songwriting, both sonically and thematically. “I travel so much for so long and some time in the ’90s, I started to become an observationalist,” he says.

The bassist also talks about playing with Iggy Pop on his latest LP, Every Loserand subsequent tour earlier this year. “Going to rehearsal with Iggy — it’s fucking Iggy, dude!” McKagan gushes. “For me, he’s still Iggy whom I saw in 1978, and it still freaks me out.”
