Even though Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have announced that they will not be returning to their roles as senior working members of the royal family, Meghan has been keeping in touch with their loved ones from afar.

According to People, the duchess and Princess Eugenie have remained in contact in recent months, as both royals were pregnant at the same time. While Meghan announced the news of her and Harry expecting their second child on Valentine's Day, Eugenie recently welcomed her first child, a baby boy named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

"They would have known about each other's due dates," a source told the outlet, shutting down any rumors that Meghan and Harry's pregnancy announcement came as a surprise. "These times tend to bring families together. What is lovely is Eugenie having her baby as Harry and Meghan are having theirs. They are very close. And they are all deciding to go their own route."

Additional sources told People that royal fans shouldn't read into the absence of a statement from Prince William and Duchess Kate following the Sussexes' baby news.

"The firm decided to have an overarching message," said a source, explaining that the statement released from Buckingham Palace was meant to represent the family at large.

"Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are 'delighted' and wish them well," read the official statement from the palace following the Sussexes' pregnancy reveal.
