Duchess Meghan Channeled Princess Diana’s Off-Duty Style With the Most Sophisticated Loafers

When Duchess Meghan touched down in California after her three-day trip to Nigeria with Prince Harry, her outfit was immediately reminiscent of one her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, wore shopping in 1994.

At Los Angeles International Airport, the Duchess of Sussex channeled Diana's off-duty style in an oversized blazer, a white sweater, and white jeans. She also wore YSL loafers, almost identical to the ones Diana owned.

The sartorial tribute to Diana comes on the heels of two other sweet style nods that Meghan made to her late mother-in-law in Nigeria. On the first day of her trip, the Duchess of Sussex also wore a collar necklace and vintage clip-on earrings that were reminiscent of the Princess of Wales's accessories when she visited the country back in 1990:

And, on her second day in Nigeria, Meghan wore a diamond cross pendant that reportedly belonged to the Diana. Meghan has worn a number of pieces of Princess Diana's jewelry over the years, including Diana's aquamarine cocktail ring and delicate gold butterfly earrings.

In the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Harry spoke about how Meghan reminds him of Diana. "So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mom," he said. "She has the same compassion. She has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."

In his memoir, Spare, he also writes about bringing Meghan to visit Diana's grave at Althorp, her childhood home. "I placed flowers on the grave," Harry writes. "Meg gave me a moment, and I spoke to my mother in my head, told her I missed her, asked her for guidance and clarity. Feeling that Meg might also want a moment, I went around the hedge, scanned the pond. When I came back, Meg was kneeling, eyes shut, palms against the stone. I asked, as we walked back to the boat, what she’d prayed for. Clarity, she said. And guidance."
