Driver Indicted in Alleged DUI Golf Cart Crash that Killed Bride on Wedding Night
Jamie Komoroski, 25, was allegedly driving drunk in the crash that killed newlywed Samantha Miller, 34, on April 28 in Folly Beach, S.C.
A South Carolina woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into a golf cart, killing a bride on her wedding night earlier this year, has been indicted by a grand jury in Charleston County, according to multiple news outlets.
Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was indicted Wednesday on one count of reckless homicide, one count of felony DUI resulting in death and two counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury, according to court documents obtained by NBC News, WCSC-TV and WNCT-TV.
It’s unclear if she has entered a plea to the charges. PEOPLE has reached out to Komoroski’s attorney for comment but did not immediately hear back Thursday.
Authorities said Komoroski was allegedly more than three times over the legal blood alcohol limit when she hit a golf cart carrying newlyweds Samantha Miller, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, 36, and two others, with her car on April 28 in Folly Beach, S.C.
Miller died on the scene from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal previously told PEOPLE in a statement.
Miller's sister, Mandi Jenkins, previously said on a GoFundMe campaign that her sister was still wearing her wedding dress when she died.
“Samantha was fearless and that's exactly how she spent the last day of her life," Jenkins wrote. "She was so excited to start her life with Aric. She had no nerves or hesitation that day. You could feel the love on the beach.”
“But she was more than just a bride. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend to all, a mother to two cats,” she continued. “She was a beautiful person, inside and out, who just wanted to make the people around her smile."
Hutchinson sustained serious injuries in the crash, including a brain injury and multiple broken bones, according to a GoFundMe page created by Hutchinson’s mother, Annette Hutchinson. Two relatives riding in the golf cart were reportedly injured, but expected to recover.
In May, Hutchinson filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Komoroski and multiple restaurants and bars where she had allegedly been “bar hopping” in the hours leading up to the deadly crash, PEOPLE previously reported.
The suit alleges that Miller’s death could have been preventable had the "negligent" establishments not over-served alcohol to Komoroski.

"Despite being noticeably and visibly intoxicated at each of these establishments," the lawsuit claims, "Jaime Komoroski continued to be served, provided, and/or allowed to consume alcohol in each of them."
The suit also alleges that "by the end of the night, Jamie Komoroski was grossly and dangerously intoxicated."

Attorneys also claim that Komoroski was allowed to get behind the wheel of her car and drive along East Ashley Avenue, where she reached speeds of 65 mph in a 25 mph zone before slamming into the golf cart.
Komorski has been held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston since the fatal crash and was denied bond by a judge during an August hearing, per the news outlets.
