The woman who was charged with manslaughter in the crash that killed the four-year-old daughter of Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles was found dead on Tuesday.

Dorothy Bruns was discovered in her Staten Island, New York, home on Tuesday. She was 44.

Police were called to her address for a wellness check after a friend said she had not heard from her, according to CBS New York. Officers found Bruns’ body and evidence that she had ingested pills. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

CBS reported that a note was also found, reading: “I don’t want to live like this anymore.”

Bruns previously told investigators that she suffered from multiple sclerosis and had a seizure before driving into a Brooklyn crosswalk on March 5, killing both the Broadway actress’ young daughter and a one-year-old boy. Subsequent charges against her included manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.

Then pregnant, Miles was also struck and later lost her baby.

A background check of Bruns’ driving record shows she had about a dozen traffic violations against her since 2016, including speeding and running red lights, and prosecutors said a doctor told Bruns on multiple times not to drive.

In her last court appearance Oct. 3, she turned down an offer of five to 15 years in jail on the manslaughter charges, the New York Post reported. She was due back in court Nov. 20.
