Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel have a number one fan in Drew Scott.

The Property Brothers star, 45, told PEOPLE exclusively at the A Sense of Home Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday evening that his brother and his new fiancée “treat each other well" — and that’s a huge part of what’s made their relationship so successful.

“I think it’s how much they care for each other. Big things and the little things,” Drew added of Jonathan and Deschanel’s relationship, which began in 2019 after they met on Carpool Karaoke.

“They treat each other with respect, and they truly are just loving with each other," he continued. "And I've seen a lot of relationships in the past where you don't get that, and you really see it with the two of them.”

As for how his brother has adjusted to life as a father to Deschanel’s two kids — daughter Elsie, 7, and son Charlie, 5, whom she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik — Drew says, "They're so good together."

"Jonathan, he became an insta-dad with the kids,” he continued, adding, “It's really great to see a whole other side of him there, too.”

Drew also detailed how he felt about his brother popping the question, sharing that he and his wife Linda Phan had been “counting down the days” until Jonathan got around to asking Deschanel, 43, to wed.

“We’re so happy,” Drew said at the gala for A Sense of Home — an organization that aims to "prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care with donated furniture and home goods," per its website. “They’re so good together.”

As wedding planning begins, he said, however, that he’s not sure if he’ll be standing next to his brother at the altar.

“We’ll see, it’s up to him,” Drew teased about the possibility of being the best man at the nuptials. “I am the kind of guy that gives no pressure. If he wants to elope and do his own thing, go for it. Whatever they want, I'm good with.”

Jonathan and Deschanel opened up about their dreamy August engagement, which took place at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, in a cover story with PEOPLE.

The exciting moment began with a guitarist Jonathan had hired to play Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” — a move that prompted confusion from the New Girl actress.

"So when that started happening, Zooey, all of a sudden ... You saw this, 'What's happening?' " Scott recalled.

"Somebody magically took the kids over on the other side where the band was, and I was like, 'Something's happening,' " she told PEOPLE, adding that she wasn’t sure what was going on until her kids walked back out with “a banner that said, ‘Zooey, will you marry me?’ ”

Despite playing a role in the engagement, Deschanel said her kids were confused. Her daughter read the sign and asked if the two had just gotten married on the spot.

"And we're like, 'Well, no, not yet, but we got engaged.' And she's like, 'Does that mean I get to be a flower girl?' And we're like, 'Yes. Yes you can,' " the star said. "So it was really sweet to have them there too."

Deschanel added of the proposal, “It was so special.”
