Drew McIntyre will not be competing on the upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown, as the superstar says he has not been medically cleared to perform in the ring.

In a tweet on December 5, McIntyre announced that he wouldn’t be available to perform on the December 9, 2022 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he was set to team up with Sheamus and The Usos for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship match. McIntyre stated that he he has been “medically disqualified to compete.” He noted that he didn’t like to miss any shows and promised he would “be back soon.”

As of this writing, specific details are unclear. McIntyre last wrestled during a house show in Portland, Maine, on November 27, 2022. He hasn’t competed on WWE programming since he was part of the Men’s WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series on November 26.

WWE subsequently announced that Butch will replace McIntyre in the title match on Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
