Drew Brees is ignoring the standard parenting playbook that says you don’t have a favorite child. (Or, even if you do, you don’t admit to it.) The former NFL quarterback spoke to Hoda Kotb on her podcast, Making Space with Hoda Kotb, and he had no problem admitting to having a No. 1 pick.

Drew shares four kids with his college sweetheart Brittany Brees: their three sons, Baylen, 15, Bowen, 13, and Callen, 11, and their 9-year-old daughter Rylen.

Drew said that Rylen “will always be ‘Daddy’s little girl'” before fessing up: “And yes, she is my favorite.”

Wow! The New Orleans Saints legend is apparently willing to toss that prized piece of information around, and we have to know what his other three kids (the measly second-stringers) think about that. We could see them being super offended, but it also feels just as likely that the t(w)eens have no interest in what their dad does — not caring to listen to his latest interview.

Sorry, Drew! He admitted that the boys don’t listen to what he says at home, so why would they tune into the airwaves? Apparently, Baylen, Bowen, and Callen have little interest in what Drew and Brittany have to say. Someone else has to say it in order for them to listen.

“[The challenge for parents of teenagers] is to put their teens in front of adults who will impart a similar wisdom, like teachers and coaches,” the Super Bowl winner told Kotb. “Teens will listen to the lessons parents want to teach them … but only if they come from a different source.”

Things can get tricky now that Drew is that figure for his kids. He may have retired from the NFL in 2021, but he didn’t give up football entirely.

“I coach my kids and help out with a local high school and so football will always be a part of my life,” he said. “… I have a chance to be a powerful influence in the lives of those kids…I think there’s nothing that gives me more pride than walking around my kids’ school and them calling me Coach Drew.”

Well … except maybe Rylen. She is his favorite cutie, after all!

These celebrity fathers are all proud to be “girl dads.
