Drew Barrymore was at pit row at the Circuit of the Americas Thursday, decked out in a full Oracle Red Bull Racing suit. She spoke with driver Sergio Pérez, team principal Christian Horner and their team in addition to helping them change a tire as the group practiced for Sunday's U.S. Grand Prix.

Cameras from Barrymore's daytime talk show filmed those moments in the same week her show returned to air after controversy tied to the writer's strike surrounded the program.

'The Drew Barrymore Show' writers quit amid; Barrymore faces backlash

The show had initially announced its return amid the WGA strike but later postponed that return until an agreement was reached last month.

At the time, the return was not a violation for Barrymore, a member of SAG-AFTRA, but doing so meant without union writers. Barrymore received blowback after defending the decision on Sept. 10, but a week later reversed course and postponed the season's premiere.

But three of the program's head writers, Chelsea White, Cristina Kinon, and Liz Koe, chose to leave after their strike concluded. The show reportedly started interviewing writers after the change. When the strike began in May, Barrymore had previously praised their work in her acceptance speech for Best Host at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

Amid the backlash against Barrymore, she was dropped as host of the National Book Awards and replaced with LeVar Burton. The program takes place on Nov. 15 and will be streamed on YouTube.
