Drew Barrymore Cries During Emotional Reunion With Woman Who Comforted Her After She Quit Drinking

Drew Barrymore had an emotional blast from the past. On Oct. 18, "The Drew Barrymore Show" posted an Instagram clip of a woman in the audience explaining through tears how she met the actress, 48, on a plane while working as a flight attendant. Drew walked up to the woman and sat down to explain why the moment was so meaningful. "That was a really hard year. It was actually the year I stopped drinking," Drew revealed through tears. The "50 First Dates" star started her sobriety journey in 2019. Season 4 of Drew's daytime show premiered on Oct. 16 following backlash she received from an earlier announcement that the series would return amid the WGA strike in September. Drew responded to the criticism with a now-deleted Instagram video. "I believe there is nothing I can do or say in this moment to make it ok. I wanted to own a decision so that it wasn't a PR protected situation, and I would just take full responsibility for my actions," she said at the time.
