The-Dream Parts Ways From Warner Chappell Music Publishing

The-Dream and Warner Chappell Music Publishing are going their separate ways.

On Wednesday (Sept. 20), which also happened to be the singer-songwriter‘s 46th birthday, he took to Twitter with the announcement.

“Today marks another step in becoming more than a singular music entity as I bid a great farewell to the amazing Warner Chappell Music Publishing company,” Dream began. “I have faith that as I depart, I’m someone who has been seen as a beacon of hard work and as an ally to self-contained creatives. Today will start the pursuit of a more complete ideal in all Art forms, beyond just the business of music, and recreate a standard in the independence of artistic expression through business.”

He went on to add, “I’m blessed having learned this one thing more than all — Betting and believing in yourself is hard, but always worth it overtime. My philosophy has and will not change, it’s only gotten stronger of what it has been throughout my career. I’m heading into the future with the absolute idea to always — Take less capital and bet on the work over time — that will create even more success and ownership prowess decades into the future.” Dream and Warner Chappell Music extended their publishing agreement in August 2014.

In tandem with the news, Dream also gifted fans with new music from his archive. “Just a simple Thank You for those who rock with me,” he tweeted after teasing the release days prior.

He continued to express his gratitude, writing, “I appreciate all of you soooooo much beyond this Internet s**t. In Real Life! You guys have gave me oxygen from day 1! And I want to make sure you know I’ve been at your service and will be until I no longer walk on this side of this planet. Have an Amazing Day Love!”

“Stream” marks his first proper release since 2020’s SXTP4 (Sextape 4).
