The Golden State Warriors have been struggling throughout the 2023-2024 NBA regular season and now they will have to continue without Draymond Green for some time. The four-time NBA Champion has been suspended indefinitely for striking Phoenix Suns forward Jusuf Nurkic during their Tuesday (Dec. 12) contest.

Nurkic and Green were matched up against one another in the third quarter of their game. The latter was trying to create space for himself, and as the two got tied up, Green spun around and struck Nurkic in the face, causing the Bosnian hooper to fall to the ground. The four-time All-Star was handed a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game, which the Warriors ended up losing 119-116.

Joe Dumars, the Executive Vice President of the NBA and Head Of Basketball Operations, announced Green’s suspension on Wednesday (Dec. 13), his second suspension and third ejection from a game so far this season, marking the most times he has ever been ejected in a single season. He cited the 33-year-old hooper’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” as why the suspension is indefinite and ordered him to meet “certain league and team conditions” before he can return to the court.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Draymond Green, his agent Rich Paul, and Golden State Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. will meet on Thursday (Dec. 14) to discuss a “path of counseling and assistance” for the Saginaw, Mich. star. The NBA was intentional in not putting a specific number on how many games he would miss to ensure that Green gets ample time to overcome his challenges.

If the 2017 NBA Defensive Player Of The Year is suspended for fewer than 20 games, he will be docked $153,941 per game. If his suspension exceeds 20 games, he will miss out on $202,922 per game.

This comes almost one month to the day of Green choking Rudy Gobert during a scuffle in the Warriors game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was suspended five games for that infraction.
