Draymond Green is set to rejoin the Golden State Warriors roster, as the 33-year-old hooper was reinstated after serving a 12-game suspension for striking Phoenix Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkic in December.

The official NBA Communications X account shared a statement regarding Green on Saturday (Jan. 7). “Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been reinstated following his suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic on Dec. 12, 2023,” the NBA’s PR department wrote. “It was announced by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations. During his period of suspension, which began on Dec. 14 and resulted in him missing 12 games, Green completed steps that demonstrated his commitment to conforming his conduct to standards expected of NBA players.”

During the suspension, the four-time NBA champion was ordered to meet with counselors, Warriors representatives, NBA representatives, and National Basketball Players Association representatives. The statement concluded by saying that these meetings will continue throughout the 2023-2024 season.

Draymond Green shared his first public statements on his experience being suspended during the Monday (Jan. 8) episode of his eponymous podcast. “I had a conversation with Adam Silver, commissioner of our league” he said. “I just told him, ‘Adam, it’s too much for me. Like, this is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me and I’m going to retire.'”

The former Defensive Player Of The Year revealed that Silver told him he was making a rash decision and he wouldn’t let him do that. “You know, we had a long, great conversation,” he said. “Very helpful to me. [I’m] very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who’s more about helping you than hurting you or helping you than punishing you or, you know. He’s more about the players.”

Green’s suspension not only factored in the incident with Jusuf Nurkic in December, but his five-game suspension in November. He was ordered to miss said five games after putting Minnesota Timberwolves’ center, Rudy Gobert, in a headlock.
