Dramatic Night on ‘The Voice’ Cuts Top 8 in Half

It was a stressful night for Voice contestants and fans as the top eight were whittled down to the final four. Through the first half of the show, three of the final four were announced one by one. First, Team Adam member Billy Gilman was saved, followed by Blake’s only remaining contestant, Sundance Head, and Team Alicia’s Wé McDonald.

With only one spot remaining and five contestants left, Carson Daly announced the top three vote-getters who would be singing for the Instant Save. The bottom two were Aaron Gibson and Brendan Fletcher, which meant Ali Caldwell, Josh Gallagher, and Christian Cuevas would hit the stage to fight for their right to compete in the finals.

Christian performed Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” Ali tackled “Sledgehammer” — by Rihanna, not Peter Gabriel — and Josh sang Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.” After singing their hearts out, they stood together onstage, praying that Carson would say their name. Unfortunately for Ali and Christian, Carson announced that Josh was saved and heading onto the finals.

So Miley is officially out of contestants, while Adam has two in the finals, along with one each from Blake and Alicia. So will there be a new coach winning The Voice or will Adam or Blake add to their illustrious coaching careers? Tune in next week to find out!

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
