Drake is back to sharing cryptic messages via his Instagram as his feud with Kendrick Lamar rages on. The 37-year-old rapper posted a video touching on death and hate.

“I don’t mean this as a criticism. Maybe I do. But when you die, will people notice?” Jeff Daniels, the lead actor in the Netflix series A Man In Full says while lying down on the ground. “When I go, there are gonna be a lot of memories of me by a lot of people, many who hate me. Even so, a person needs to live with vigor. Otherwise, what’s the point?” Drizzy shared this clip early Thursday morning (May 9).

It is unclear what he is looking to convey here. Is this him bowing out of the battle, like many people thought when he released “The Heart Part 6” on Sunday evening (May 5)? Is this him justifying the depths that he went in the battle, such as suggesting that Dave Free is the actual father of K. Dot’s children with his fiancée Whitney Alford and that the Compton, Calif., rapper domestically abused her? Time will tell what the Toronto superstar decides to do next.

In the court of public opinion, many people believe that Drake lost the battle with Kendrick Lamar; perhaps the Instagram post was a response to that. “Drake lost the moment Kendrick prayed about this sh*t on 6:16 IN LA ni**a said, ‘God my confession is yours but who am i if i don’t go to war?’ like he’s a f**king holy knight or something,” one fan wrote.

Some fans are saying K. Dot’s Saturday evening (May 4) release “Not Like Us” is what decided the battle, especially given its commercial success. “Drake lost a record he held since 2017 to a song that calls him a ‘certified pedophile,'” another fan wrote. This referred to “Not Like Us” breaking the all-time record for biggest single-day streams of a Hip-Hop song in US Spotify history, though the fan incorrectly cited the length of the record. The previous holder, Drake’s “Girls Want Girls” featuring Lil Baby, was released in 2021.

Another aspect of why people are handing the “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper the loss is the growing popularity of Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” beat. Several rappers have tried their hand at rapping over it, but other fans have morphed the beat to fit into other genres such as merengue.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s battle hit a peak last week. First, K. Dot released “Euphoria” on Tuesday afternoon (April 30) before following up with “6:16 In LA” on Friday morning (May 3). The part-time crooner fired back with “Family Matters” and a parody of Lamar’s verse on the “Buried Alive Interlude” via Instagram later that evening.

However, the Pulitzer Prize winner immediately halted any momentum those records would gain by releasing “Meet The Grahams” almost a half hour later. He doubled down with “Not Like Us” on Saturday evening, and the Degrassi actor sent out the latest shot with “The Heart Part 6” on Sunday evening.
