Drake has seemingly called for Tory Lanez to be freed from the 10-year prison sentence he received for his role in the 2020 shooting of rap star Megan Thee Stallion.

This past weekend, the Champagne Papi uploaded various posts to his Instagram Story, including a picture of Tory Lanez with the accompanying caption “3 You.”

Some commentators expressed their belief that the “3” in the caption was symbolic of handcuffs being unlocked, as opposed to the No. 8, which is often used to symbolize bondage.

In December 2022, Tory Lanez was convicted of assault with an automatic firearm, carrying an unregistered loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence after being accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot.

This isn’t the first time Drake has expressed his support for Lanez after his former collaborator was charged with shooting the “Body” rapper.

Following his sentencing in August 2023, Lanez released a statement on social media maintaining his innocence, a post which Drake liked, resulting in Drake receiving backlash from supporters of Megan Thee Stallion.

“I have never let a hard time intimidate me I never never let no jail time eliminate me,” the statement read. “Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will.”

He continued, “This week in court I took responsibility for all the verbal and intimate moments I shared with the parties involved… That’s it. In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully accused of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”

The rapper, who has maintained his innocence, has also pleaded for an early release from prison, filing multiple motions and appeals requesting probation, therapy, and release. He is currently housed at the California Correctional Institution and eligible for parole in September 2029.
