Drake Secures 13th No. 1 Album As ‘For All The Dogs’ Tops Billboard 200

Drake has found himself in a familiar place after the release of his latest album For All The Dogs. The 36-year-old superstar’s eighth studio album has officially reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The Oct. 6 LP sold 402,000 album-equivalent units in the United States and marks The 6 God’s 13th No. 1 album in his career. In terms of Hip-Hop albums in 2023, Dogs‘ first-week sales trail Travis Scott’s July album Utopia by 87,000 units. As for the five-time Grammy winner’s recent releases, Dogs was within 2000 units of his November 2022 collaborative album with 21 Savage, Her Loss.

Notably, 97 percent of Dogs‘ first-week sales were driven by streaming numbers with 514.01 million on-demand streams. This was the biggest streaming performance of any album in 2023 and the fourth-largest in history. The Toronto rapper now lays claim to four of the five biggest streaming weeks of all time.

Drake released For All The Dogs on Oct. 6, two weeks past the original release date of Sept. 22. The 23-track LP featured Bad Bunny, SZA, J. Cole, Teezo Touchdown, Sexyy Red, Yeat, and more. He preceded the album with the singles “Slime You Out” featuring SZA and “8AM In Charlotte,” the latest addition to his fan-favorite timestamp series.

The rollout for For All The Dogs featured the most active involvement from Drake’s son, Adonis Graham. He was responsible for the hand-drawn album art and also appeared in the music video for “8AM In Charlotte.” It appears the six-year-old will be looking to follow in his father’s footsteps as well, as he offered a brief freestyle at the end of the track “Daylight” but that was the precursor for something bigger.

On Sunday (Oct. 16), Adonis released his debut single “My Man Freestyle” and an accompanying music video. His father appears in a few scenes, but the majority shows Adonis and his friends playing basketball and dancing along to the song. Check out the “My Man Freestyle” music video below.
