BET announces the 2023 BET Award nominations with a wide range of artists leading the way. Revealed on Thursday (June 8), Drake is at the top of the list, earning seven nominations total, the most this year. Only one short of the self-proclaimed 6 God is rising Memphis rapper GloRilla, counting six nominations.
Following the two rappers are 21 Savage and Lizzo, who are tied with five nods each. Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Ice Spice, Chris Brown, and SZA rank closely behind with four nominations each.
Other notable nominations include Coco Jones, contending in three categories including Best New Artist. Cardi B, Jack Harlow, Future, FLO, Kendrick Lamar, Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin, and Tems are also up for three awards.
The 2023 BET Awards air live on June 25 from Los Angeles. Described by the network as “Culture’s Biggest Night,” the program will celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop. Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, will oversee and executive produce the annual show, with Jamal Noisette, VP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, to Co-Executive Produce for BET.
Jesse Collins Entertainment is the production company for the show, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay also serving as executive producers.
Nominees for the BET Awards were selected by the BET Voting Academy, comprised of an esteemed group of entertainment professionals and influencers in the fields of music, media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and creative arts.
