Drake continued his Grammy Awards boycott this year but did not go silently. He passed along a positive message to all artists, encouraging them not to put too much weight into whether they win or not.

“All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts it’s just the opinion of a group of people whose names are kept a secret,” he wrote in an Instagram story on Sunday (Feb. 4). “Congrats to anybody winning anything for Hip-Hop but this show doesn’t dictate sh*t in our world.”

His caption, coincidentally, accompanied a clip of his speech from the 2019 Grammys after taking home the Best Rap Song award for his smash hit “God’s Plan.” He encouraged his fellow Hip-Hop artists not to get too consumed by winning or losing Grammys because the voters often do not fully understand who they are voting for. Instead, he urged them to feel victorious because they have fans who will spend their hard-earned money to attend their shows. Check out his Instagram story and the 2019 speech below.

While Drake has not attended the Grammys since his 2019 victory, he has been nominated for multiple awards over the years. His 2021 album Certified Lover Boy was nominated for Best Rap Album, but he withdrew it from consideration ahead of the 2022 show.

At this year’s spectacle, his collaborative album Her Loss with 21 Savage was nominated for four awards: Best Rap Album, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. However, the “Rich Flex” duo did not take home any hardware.

It has been a commercially successful year for the Toronto superstar nonetheless. His October 2023 album For All The Dogs went No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and he claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 that same week with the J. Cole-assisted “First Person Shooter.” Watch the video below.
