Fans looking forward to Canadian rap superstar Drake’s upcoming concert at FedExForum may be feeling a sense of déjà vu. Drake — who has had four different shows in Memphis scheduled, postponed, canceled and rescheduled since last summer — has scrapped his planned April 8 concert at FedExForum.

News of Drake's latest cancellation came late Friday afternoon, in the form of an email from Ticketmaster alerting those who’d already purchased seats for the FedExForum show that the concert was being canceled and refunds would be issued automatically at point of purchase.

So far, no specific reason has been given for the change either by Ticketmaster, concert promoters Live Nation, or representatives for Drake. At least three other shows on Drake’s tour — a stop in Birmingham on March 27 and a pair of Denver performances scheduled for April 15-16 — were canceled as well.

From the looks of Ticketmaster’s most recent offering of seats for Drake's FedExForum show earlier on Friday, it appeared that roughly 70% to 75% of tickets had been sold already, with nearly two months to go before the concert.

Drake kicked off his “It’s All a Blur – Big As The What?” tour with J. Cole earlier this month. He had completed half a dozen shows without issue, including dates in Tampa, Nashville and St. Louis over the past two weeks. Drake was scheduled to play the first of two shows in Pittsburgh on Friday night.

Originally, Drake was slated to conclude his tour in early April with the Memphis performance and two shows in Denver — all of which were essentially makeup dates from 2023.

Drake was set to kick off his 2023 tour in Memphis last summer. The singer — whose paternal family hails from the Bluff City and has been a regular visitor over the years — had set up at FedExForum rehearsing his tour for several days in June.

But just a week before the concert, the show was postponed to August, for vague reasons relating to production issues. Then, again, just days before the August show, the concert was canceled altogether without reason.

Finally, in November, the multiplatinum rap superstar confirmed a new date for FedExForum on March 5, 2024. But, in January, that concert date was also pushed back, moving to April 8. Now, just a month later, the show has been completely scratched from Drake’s tour schedule.
