Drake Bell, more Nickelodeon stars to return in new “Quiet on Set ” episode

The Investigation Discovery series about the toxic work environment and abuse at Nickelodeon will air an additional episode in April.

Drake Bell isn’t quite finished telling his story.

The Investigation Discovery series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV will return for an additional fifth episode on Sunday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m. on ID. The follow-up episode, titled Breaking the Silence, will see several former Nickelodeon stars reunite on camera to continue discussing their time working for the network.

Participants in the new episode include Bell, All That cast members Bryan Christopher Hearne and Giovonnie Samuels, plus Hearne’s mother Tracey Brown, all of whom appeared in prior episodes of the series. New participants will also appear in the episode, including All That’s Shane Lyons.

Broadcast journalist Soledad O’Brien will host the group conversation, which will see the cast react to the first four episodes and discuss how the entertainment industry can improve for young performers.

ID debuted Quiet on Set on March 17. The four-part series featured extensive interviews with former Nickelodeon child stars, who detailed the toxic work environment at the network during the reign of Dan Schneider, the showrunner for hit series like All That, The Amanda Show, and Drake & Josh. Participants alleged sexism, racism, and verbal abuse during the production of their shows, and all indicated that their time in the Nickelodeon spotlight had a lasting negative impact on their mental health and self-worth.

In the series, Bell revealed for the first time that he was the John Doe in the child sexual abuse case that sent Amanda Show dialogue coach Brian Peck to prison in 2004. In the third episode of Quiet on Set, Bell and his father detailed Peck’s “extensive” abuse and the unwavering support the convicted child molester received from prominent Hollywood figures. After the show’s conclusion, Bell said that he hasn’t received a private apology from any of Peck’s supporters, though a few have offered public statements expressing their regret over the situation.

The fifth episode of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV premieres on ID on Sunday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m. The first four episodes of the series are streaming on Max.
