Drake’s forthcoming album For All The Dogs is already highly anticipated, and he recently announced something that has only made it more exciting for his fans. The 36-year-old rapper announced a new single featuring SZA will come out this week.

On Wednesday evening (Sept. 13), The 6 God shared a photo of Halle Berry getting slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with a parental advisory logo on the bottom, indicating that this was the cover art for upcoming music. On Monday (Sept. 11), he announced that he would be releasing a song this week during the Austin stop on the It’s All A Blur Tour as Dogs’ Sept. 22 drop date draws near, leading fans to assume that this was that record and it would come out on Friday (Sept. 15).

He also tagged the SOS artist in the photo, which led many to believe that she would be featured on the currently unnamed song. The one-time GRAMMY winner shared the same cover art shortly after and tagged the Toronto artist, confirming what everyone already believed. This would mark the first time that the Her Loss rapper and “Snooze” singer collaborated, and given both of their successes over the years, it is a linkup of epic proportions. Check out their posts below.

While Drake and SZA have never formally collaborated, they have either interpolated or mentioned one another in their previous music. On 2017’s “Normal Girl,” the Maplewood, N.J., singer interpolated the part-time crooner’s 2016 hit “Controlla” when she sang, “You like it when I be aggressive,” in a similar cadence and almost verbatim to his original line, “You like it when I get aggressive.”

On 2018’s “Diplomatic Immunity,” the father of one rapped, “I just pulled up Solána show, the girl’s a natural/ I knew her way back when Hollywood was international/ Yeah, the furthest I’ve been, that’s word to my ends.” This was in reference to him meeting up with her during the Toronto stop of the Ctrl Tour in August 2017 and the fact they knew each other long before then.

Drake added more clarity to the depth in which they knew each other in 2020 when he joined 21 Savage on “Mr. Right Now” and revealed they had previously dated. He spit, “Yeah, said she wanna f**k to some SZA, wait/ ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08/ If you cool with it, baby, she can still play.” This stirred up some controversy when people looked up the Top Dawg Entertainment artist’s age and believed that Drizzy engaged with her when she was underage. The 33-year-old artist cleared things up via Twitter, correcting Drake’s lyrics and saying they dated in 2009 when she was 18. Check out her tweets below.

SZA addressed their previous relationship again back in December 2022 during an interview with Big Tigger, stating that everything was copacetic between the two. “We’re cool, we’ve always been cool. It’s never been weird. It’s never come completely out of the blue,” she said, revealing that she was notified about the bar on “Mr. Right Now” before it came out. Check out the interview above.
