Drag Race winners tease huge All Stars 7 twist: 'It's the reason I said yes'

The fact that RuPaul assembled the "Avengers of Drag" to front RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7 isn't even the biggest gag of the season — and at first, not even the all-winners cast of queens was sure how to process the twist that lies ahead.

"I hated it. I wanted it to not be how it was — at the beginning," All Stars 4 winner Monét X Change exclusively tells EW in our video interview (above) filmed at our AS7 cover shoot. "Then we got into the game, and I was like, 'Oh, I do like it.' She's hot and she's cold."

Season 12's Jaida Essence Hall teases that she "loved it so much" from the start, however, "because it gives "fans of the show [something] they've never seen in Drag Race history."

Even more surprising, Jinkx Monsoon — winner of season 5 — says that she "liked it" from the get-go as well, stressing that "it's the reason [she] said yes" to coming back into the competition at all.

Vijat M for EW 'Drag Race' all-winners season includes a twist for 'All Stars 7.'

"My first reaction was, 'What a great idea. But knowing it's RuPaul's Drag Race, what's the catch?'' states All Stars 5 queen Shea Couleé. "When we got there, that's when we found out the catch."

Though it might've thrown some of the queens, All Stars 4 winner Trinity The Tuck promises fans are in for a trip: "What made it great is that everybody did so phenomenal," she finishes. "The twist is what's going to keep the fans on their toes."

Even outside the upcoming twist to the format, All Stars 7 is inherently revolutionary, as it marks the first all-winners edition in franchise her-story. Eight past winners will go crown-to-crown against each other in pursuit of becoming the first queen ever with two Drag Race victories, with a cast that — in addition to the aforementioned queens, also includes Drag Race UK season 1 winner Vivienne, season 3 champ Raja, and season 11's crowned queen Yvie Oddly.
