Sep. 13—BEMIDJI — Drag artist Edie is set to perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Rail River Folk School, 303 Railroad St. SW in Bemidji.

Edie is best known for her role in Cirque du Soleil's hit show, "ZUMANITY," where she starred as the emcee at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, a release said. During her 13-year run, she performed over 5,600 shows for over 6 million people.

As part of her "Dance, Edie, Dance!" tour, the show is a culmination of her life-long love of dance and will feature live vocals combined with high-kicking choreography.

Edie began her professional dance career at the age of 17 with Ballet Oregon. For the next 11 years, she danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Chicago and Pennsylvania Ballet before moving to New York to pursue musical theater.

Edie has starred in "LEGS!," an autobiographical off-Broadway show, performed on the MTV Video Music Awards, appeared on "Sex and the City," was featured at Wigstock and Broadway Bares, and made her Broadway debut alongside Cyndi Lauper and Alan Cumming in the Tony-nominated revival of "The Threepenny Opera" at Studio 54.
