The new movie Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar is set to drop on digital streaming services and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, August 22nd (pre-order here). Ahead of the release, Adult Swim has unveiled a sneak peek clip starring none other than Dr. Rockzo, the Rock n’ Roll Clown.
Titled “Dr. Rockzo’s Party in the Sky,” the clip sees the beloved David Lee Roth-inspired character preaching “a psychedelic sermon about the party that awaits us all” in the afterlife: an eternity of c-c-c-c-cocaine.
Written and directed by series co-creator Brendon Small, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar will finally tie-up the story that was left unfinished when the original Metalocalypse animated series was unceremoniously canceled in 2013.
The story follows Dethklok singer Nathan Explosion as he attempts to write the Song of Salvation, the only thing that can save the planet from Metalocalypse. In addition to co-creators Small and Tommy Blacha (who write and perform Dethklok’s music), the film also features guest stars Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, Kirk Hammett, Mark Hamill, King Diamond, Jon Hamm, Amy Lee, Malcolm McDowell, Juliet Mills, Laraine Newman, Raya Yarbrough, Livia Zita, and Scott Ian.
Meanwhile, a new Dethklok album, Dethalbum IV, will also drop on August 22nd, while a film soundtrack will follow on August 25th. The fictional band will then be hitting the real-life road for a co-headlining tour with BABYMETAL that kicks off on August 30th in Houston. Get tickets via StubHub.
You can pre-order Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar on Blu-Ray pre-order here and watch the sneak peek via the YouTube link below.
