Dr. Phil Shares A Personal Story About Tragedy In The Hopes Of Inspiring Exes At Odds To Change Their Behavior

Stacie and Chad are exes at odds. Since their divorce seven years ago, they’ve had a contentious relationship and often, their 17-year-old twin daughters are caught in the middle. The teens are currently not speaking to Chad, he says because of Stacie’s influence. Stacie and the girls say it was the girls’ decision to end their relationship with Chad because of his behavior.

After speaking with the family and hearing the girls plead with their father to spend focused time with them, Dr. Phil shares a powerful message with the parents. He shares about a few heartbreaks that have occurred recently in his life, and his wife, Robin, reads a message that her niece, who is divorced, wrote about her ex-husband.

“Sometimes, it takes something tragic to look back and say, ‘I was a right fighter. I was wrong some of the times when I was so convinced I was right, and I wish I had done it differently.'” Dr. Phil says to the couple.
