Dr. Phil To Parents Of Runaway Teen: ‘This Is A Great Success Story Waiting To Unfold’

Darbi says she ran away from home, once at 15, and again at 16 because she was unhappy with her family situation. The teenager says she felt pulled between her parents, Janice and Wayne, who have been divorced for several years. The two, who say Darbi has previously been diagnosed with mental health issues, also admit they’ve been feuding over their daughter and her siblings ever since they split up.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Conflict so big it needs a Dr. Phil solution?

When Darbi left home in October, she says she headed to Los Angeles, where she says she lived for a month on the streets. She was found shortly after Janice and Wayne had taped an episode of Dr. Phil aimed at finding the teen and bringing her home.

Once Darbi has had a few days alone with her parents, who have pledged to stop feuding for her sake as well as that of their other children, Dr. Phil congratulates the family on their progress, saying, “This is a great success story waiting to unfold.”

Darbi is introduced to Marcela Rondani, Clinical Director for Polaris Teen. When she’s offered a placement at the residential therapeutic facility, is Darbi willing to go? Tune in Thursday to watch the conclusion of this two-part Dr. Phil.
