Downtown South Bend holds 24th annual St. Patrick's Parade and Greening of the East Race
SOUTH BEND — The city’s 24th annual St. Patrick’s Parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at the corner of East Jefferson Boulevard and South Notre Dame Avenue.
Presented by Downtown South Bend, Inc., in partnership with South Bend Venues Parks & Arts, the parade will feature floats and walking units traveling west on Jefferson Boulevard from Notre Dame Avenue to Niles Avenue, turning north on Niles Avenue and finishing at Washington Street.
The parade will be emceed by WNDU-TV’s Tricia Sloma and Christine O’Connor. They will be located on the Boomer stage which will be set up at the intersection of Jefferson and St. Louis boulevards.
This year’s parade will feature co-Grand Marshals Terry McFadden of WNDU-TV and the South Bend Cubs’ Swoop — both of whom are retiring this year.
It will last approximately an hour.
The annual Greening of the East Race will take place directly following the parade, and visitors are encouraged to watch this spectacle from the east bank of the East Race, because the west bank will be closed due to construction.
Several additional St. Patrick’s festivities will be taking place downtown, including Irish music and dance performances, pub outings and more.
