Downtown Detroit's outdoor markets, Motor City Comic Con: 5 things to do this weekend
With the holiday season fast approaching, metro Detroit is brimming with exciting activities and events. Various communities are hosting craft shows, Motor City Comic Con is set to delight comic book and pop culture enthusiasts and an outdoor marketplace in downtown Detroit will reopen for the season offering a festive atmosphere. Also, immerse yourself in a musical journey at a candlelight concert, enjoy a night of laughter at a comedy show and more.
Here are five things to do for the weekend of Nov. 10-12.
Downtown Detroit Markets & The Cadillac Lodge
For the holiday season, visit this outdoor marketplace that offers locally made gifts from a collection of curated Detroit vendors offering specialty apparel, accessories, jewelry, bath products, home décor, children’s toys, pet goods, books, snacks and more.
The Cadillac Lodge will also be open for a warm, cozy and family-friendly gathering space that offers festive beverages, treats and more in a ski lodge setting.
Downtown Detroit Markets & Cadillac Lodge will be open Thursday through Jan. 7. The hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesdays & Thursdays; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sundays and closed Mondays & Tuesdays. Cadillac Square is across from Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit.
Motor City Comic Con
This comic book and pop culture convention returns with a lineup that will feature actors from television, movies and the streaming industry, along with artists, writers and comic book creators. There will also be various panel discussions, attractions, vendors and celebrity guests who will participate in autographs and photo opportunities with attendees throughout the weekend.
Celebrity guests expected include Don Gibb, Dermot Mulroney, Lorraine Bracco, Mae Whitman, Jim Cummings, Renae Jacobs and Daniel Logan to name a few.
Highlights includes a live adventure interactive escape room, icon tournaments, Nosferatur: A Symphony of Horror, cosplay contest, sketch duels, artist alley, anime reels, Ghostbusters Detroit, kids den and more. Schedules and additional fees for various activities will vary per guest and event.
Motor City Comic Con takes place Friday-Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace at 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi. Admission for ages 13 and up start at $30. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door (if available). Tickets for ages 6-12 start at $10.
Candlelight Concerts: Featuring Vivaldi’s Four Seasons & More
Embark on a musical journey under the gentle glow of lit candles this upcoming holiday season at different locations with live music and tributes to classical greats and contemporary music.
At 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons & More will be featured at Christ Church Detroit, 960 E. Jefferson Ave. in Detroit. Tickets start at $34.
Royal Oak Vodka Fest
This 21-and-up event will feature samples from nearly 30 distilleries that will offer unique descriptions and insights on their products. There also will be food available for purchase, a live musical performance by Cosmic Groove, dancing and more.
The event takes place 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 316 E. Eleven Mile in Royal Oak. General admission tickets start at $49.
Michael Yo – Do I Lie? Tour
Actor, comedian, and podcast host Michael Yo will be on stage in Detroit with his Do I Lie! Tour. The two-time Emmy nominee will be joined by Tre Stewart.
7 p.m. Friday at The Majestic Theatre at 4140 Woodward Ave. in Detroit. Tickets start at $25.
