Get ready to return to a world of lords and ladies, butlers and chauffeurs, and tea and fox hunts, because a Downton Abbey movie is coming!

Downton Abbey ended in 2015 after six seasons. Since then, the cast and crew have been talking about a possible movie and it looks like it’s finally happening. Production on a follow-up to the Emmy-winning period drama is set to begin next year, with Julian Fellowes writing a script.

The series ended with happy endings for almost all of the characters. Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) was pregnant with her second child. Lady Edith finally stopped being “Poor Edith” and got married to a millionaire marquess. And after recovering from a suicide attempt, Barrow (Rob James-Collier) replaced Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) as butler.

So, what would the movie be about? We’ve got ideas for all of the major characters!

Maggie Smith has been vocal in her disinterest in starring in a movie. “I just think it’s squeezing it dry, do you know what I mean?” the Emmy-winning actress said earlier this year.

She did have an idea for how the Dowager could play a part in the move, though: “I could croak it, and it would just start with the body.”

So, the Dowager dies six months after the events of the series finale. As for the rest of the characters…

Lady Mary: Gives birth to a daughter named Violet in her grandmother’s memory. She asks Carson to be Violet’s godfather and he gives her advice just as he did for Mary for so many years.

Lady Edith: Has an heir and a spare with Bertie, but gets blackmailed by Mrs. Drewe over Marigold’s true parentage. Instead of paying her off, Edith crusades for children born out of wedlock through the magazine.

Tom Branson: Marries magazine editor Laura Edmunds and moves to London to sell cars.

Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes: She retires as housekeeper and the two decide to travel the world.

Mr. Bates and Anna: They continue working at Downton Abbey, saving up to open their own inn someday. They have several more kids.

Barrow: A flirtatious new footman spells trouble for the butler, who’s trying to be good.

Daisy: She and Andy try dating for some time, but then she decides to go to college.

Lord and Lady Grantham: He suffers another ulcer and dies. Cora grieves him for a few years but then remarries a handsome doctor she meets while working at the hospital.

Lady Rose: She dies in childbirth shortly after she and Atticus lose everything in the Wall Street Crash of 1929.

The movie fast forwards to 1944, during World War II.

George Crawley: The young Earl of Grantham is called to the front. Before he ships off for Normandy, he meets a beautiful young nurse who is friends with his cousin Sybbie. He won’t pursue her, though, because she used to be a maid. But after he survives a harrowing D-Day, George decides to forego all that society nonsense and marry the woman he loves.

Violet Talbot: Now 18, she has her own secret upstairs/downstairs romance with Jack Bates, Mr. Bates and Anna’s son and a footman. They’ve been keeping their upstairs/downstairs romance a secret — until Violet’s younger sister, Roberta, spills the beans (sisters in this family just can’t seem to get along). Violet hatches a plan to elope, but will Roberta ruin her plan again?

Sybbie Branson: After graduating at the top of her class in medical school, she goes to work at the Downton Hospital, where she falls for a wounded soldier. Turns out he’s the son of the odious Larry Grey, who once drugged her father!

Marigold: The young journalist is covering the war from Paris after the city’s liberation when she’s approached by an older man. He’s her father, Michael Gregson! He didn’t die in Germany after all. He’s been hiding out for years, but now wants to get to know his daughter.
