Up and Down Year for Bristol Palin Capitalized by Childless Christmas

The Teen Mom OG star, Bristol Palin, has had quite the up and down year, with some moments turning out very well for her, and others, not so much.

Earlier in the year, she was forced to cope with the ramifications of her mother and former vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin divorcing her father, Todd Palin. And not long after that, the young mother split with MTV, ending what was a short-lived role on the hit show, Teen Mom OG.

As if the year hadn't already been a bummer for her, Tripp, her son, broke his tibia and was hospitalized earlier this December. But you know what they say, when it rains, it pours.

A Bittersweet Christmas

The Christmas holiday is a time when you want to be surrounded by family and laughter, especially when it comes to your children. Palin wasn't afforded that possibility, as she was not able to see or spend time with them.

On her Instagram account, Palin lamented how bittersweet the holidays were for her this year, but was thankful that her sister was able to spend time with her children.

"[Bittersweet] Christmas without my babes for the first time (ever). thankful my sis has these sweet pea’s to love on," Palin wrote on Instagram along with a picture holding her sister's babies. "[As] lonely as it can feel without a white picket fence - there’s plenty to be thankful for, our God is so good," she said.

Words of Encouragement

The absence of her children is a result of the custody agreement that she has with Levi Johnston and the Medal of Honor recipient, Dakota Meyer. Suffice it to say that it's been a tough holiday for Palin. People on social media came to her side, though, to offer support during this trying time.

One user shared the first moment that they were without their child for a holiday, including a motivational message. "I remember the first year without my boy, I was soooo sad.....but it gets easier to accept that they have to be with their other family too, now he's an adult and I'm grateful for his other side. God is definitely good. Merry Christmas," they wrote.

Another user shared that she should be thankful that there were any family members that she could spend time with during the holidays, commenting, "You're very lucky to have a family to be able to visit. I remember being in that situation but no family close by and no funds to fly to visit. Thought I'd die...but didn't."

Her mother Sarah Palin also shared some love saying, "Miss your babes, Bri, but SO thankful you made it up here😌 We love you so much ‼️🎄🎁❄️⛄️❤️🇺🇸🙏."

A New Love Interest

While there have been many dark and sad moments for Bristol over the last year, not all has been bad. In November, Palin and her boyfriend, former Texas A&M quarterback Jansen Moore, announced that the two were official on Instagram, signaling that she had gotten past her previous relationship with ex Dakota Meyer.

In the post the two are seen standing beside each other smiling. Both shared the photo to their respective Instagram pages, with Moore captioning the moment with 'gift from above'.

Jansen also included a bible verse in the post stating, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

On to the Next Year

Life can be a fickle mistress sometimes. We all have our ups and downs, good years and bad years. It's all about how you respond and rebound.

Palin didn't have such a great year, but she still has much to be thankful for including having beautiful children that love her, a new boyfriend that she's happy with, and other families that cares deeply for her. Here's to hoping Bristol's 2020 starts off on the right foot for her and continues on throughout the year.
