Dow poised for new high following strong jobs report

The Dow (^DJI, ^GSPC, ^IXIC) is jumping to another all-time high on the back of a strong jobs report. Plus, great again? Trump says he’s just getting started when it comes to jobs. But how does he stack up versus other presidents? We have the numbers. And — merger mania is coming to the media — we give you the names to watch. Winners and losers

Stocks in the green today include Weight Watchers after reporting its subscriber base grew 20% and raised its full-year outlook; GoPro as the action camera maker reported a smaller loss than expected and said it’s on track to launch its new Hero6 camera by the holidays; and Yelp, with the reviews site surprising investors with a profit instead of an expected loss. Also, Yelp announced a $200 million stock buyback and a deal to sell its Eat24 business to GrubHub.

Stocks in the red today include Shake Shack as comparable store sales for the burger chain fell nearly 2%; Activision Blizzard as the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft game publisher’s full-year guidance missed the mark; and Viacom, with shares getting hit as the media giant reported a drop in ad revenue driven by weak affiliate sales.
