Dover man killed, search turns up assault weapons

Police say a Dover man was killed outside his home and a subsequent search of the property turned up two assault-style guns among other weapons and drugs.

Dover Police identified the dead man as 29-year-old Walter Pereira, saying he was shot outside the home early Thursday morning.

Police were alerted to the shooting at 3:42 a.m. on Forest Creek Drive. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found Pereira lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A search of the home turned up an AK47 rifle, AR-15 rifle, 12-gauge shotgun, Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun, KBI Inc handgun, Springfield Armory 9mm handgun, Freedom Arms .22 Caliber handgun, 2,130.4 grams of marijuana, 914 doses of M/30 oxycodone pills, 27 grams of methamphetamine, 6.38 grams of cocaine, 30 doses of LSD, $7,186, and several pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Rayvaughn Jones, 29, who lived with Pereira, was arrested without incident and faces 13 charges.
