Dora Swings Into Animated Reboot Action in Trailer for Paramount+ Series

The first trailer for Paramount+’s new CG animated series Dora debuted on Monday.

Kathleen Herles, the original voice of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer series, returns as Mami, the mother of Dora (Diana Zermeño) as she is joined on rainforest adventures by her best monkey friend, Boots, voiced by Asher Colton Spence, and Map (Anairis Quiñones).

The trailer opens with Dora and her friends exploring a rainforest jungle using swinging vines, surfboards and flying animals. “I don’t think I can do it, Dora,” an anxious Boots says at one point in the short teaser.

“I’ll protect you Boots. Together we got this,” a confident Dora declares as they fly across a canyon and work together to overcome obstacles that include the sneaky fox, Swiper, voiced by Marc Weiner.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, Dora will bow on April 12 on Paramount+ in North America, the U.K. and Australia, as it targets a built-in fan base. Twenty episodes will also be available to stream in other Paramount+ markets beyond France and Japan, while the series also airs on Nick Jr. internationally.

Dora the Explorer launched on Nickelodeon in 2000 and over eight seasons on TV has become a popular preschool franchise. The series became a massive hit for Nickelodeon, running to 2014 with 172 episodes aired. The original series also centered on a young American Latina who, along with her monkey, Boots, faced riddles and characters like a thieving fox named Swiper as she went on quests.

Dora the Explorer translated worldwide, produced merchandising ranging from Legos to video games and even saw stage shows. The Latina heroine also made her big-screen debut in Dora and the Lost City of Gold, the 2019 live action adaptation of the animated series that starred Isabela Moner, Eva Longoria and Michael Pena.
