Doors Open Milwaukee

Milwaukee's nosiest event is back — Doors Open Milwaukee returns Sept. 23-24, offering a look inside more than 130 sites in the city. Admission is free, but some tours are ticketed. Overall Doors Open hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, but some sites have more select hours. Info: historicmilwaukee.org/doors-open.

Fromm Petfest at Maier Festival Park

The 10th annual Fromm Petfest does its tricks from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at Maier Festival Park. Activities for animals include lure and agility courses, dock diving and more; for humans, there'll be music, vendors, food and drink, as well as pet-adoption opportunities. Admission is free (parking is, too); dogs and cats on leash are also welcome. Info: petfestmke.com.

'Earth: The Art of Nature' at Mitchell Park Domes

The fall show at the Mitchell Park Domes explores "Earth: The Art of Nature," with curated displays of marigolds, rudbeckias, celosia and chrysanthemums. The exhibit opens Sept. 23 at the Domes, 524 S. Layton Blvd.; this Saturday and Sunday's hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $9 ($8 for Milwaukee County residents); $6 for kid ages 3 to 12, Milwaukee County seniors 60 and older, students and people with disabilities; free for children younger than 3. Milwaukee Makers Market in the Deer District

The Deer District hosts another Milwaukee Makers Market in the plaza outside Fiserv Forum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23. Dozens of artisans, makers and other local creative types are expected. Admission is free. Info: deerdistrict.com.

Public art walking tour in Menomonee Valley

Valley Week, the annual spotlight on the Menomonee Valley, kicks off with a walking tour of public art in the valley starting at 11 a.m. Sept. 24. The tour starts near the “Tending the Fire” sculpture in front of Potawatomi Casino & Hotel, 1721 W. Canal St, and ends near Brew City Crossfit, 1539 W. St Paul Ave. Admission is free.
