Cooking and hosting Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work, no matter how you look at it. For those who want to streamline operations, take pressure off the cook or just don't want to have to think about coordinating baking times for all those dishes, there are plenty of options to order ready-to-heat meals from local restaurants and grocery stores.

See a sampling of options below for full-cooked meals that can be purchased in the Akron area.

For even more options, here are a handful of local restaurants and catering services that will keep their doors open on Thanksgiving Day to serve family feasts.

Akron-area dine-in options for Thanksgiving holiday

Galaxy Restaurant — The restaurant will be open for a Thanksgiving Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 201 Park Centre Drive, Wadsworth. Reservations are required by calling 330-334-3663. The buffet includes a salad bar, sides ranging from sweet potatoes to macaroni and cheese, beef tenderloin and chef-carved turkey and desserts. Coffee, hot tea and iced tea are included.

Cost is $39.95 for adults, $21.95 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children younger than age 5.

Cooked, ready-to-eat Thanksgiving dinners also are available for pickup. Cost is $75 for two people or $225 for six people. The meals include house salad, turkey, Yankee pot roast, sides and dessert. Orders will be taken until 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Pickup is 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. See www.galaxyrestaurant.com.

Fleming's Steakhouse — A three-course Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at 4000 Medina Road, Copley. The meal includes salad or lobster bisque, herb-roasted turkey breast with turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans with apricots and onions, cinnamon orange cranberry sauce and a choice of harvest New York cheesecake or carrot cake. Cost is $56 each.

Petite filet mignon ($71) or prime bone-in ribeye ($86) are other three-course Thanksgiving dinner options. See www.flemingssteakhouse.com for reservations.

A ready-to-heat or ready-to-serve Thanksgiving catering menu also is available a la carte for pickup or delivery Nov. 20-22 or Nov. 24-26.

Beau's on the River — Thanksgiving Day brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the restaurant at the Sheraton Suites, 1989 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. The brunch includes breakfast offerings, a variety of starters including a full salad bar, carved or sliced turkey breast, ham, pork loin, cod, Thanksgiving sides, kids' options and desserts.

Tangier — A Thanksgiving Day buffet will run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 507 Cleveland Massillon Road, Fairlawn. The buffet includes a variety of starters including salads, breads, soup and more. Entrees include roast turkey with apple pecan stuffing, prime rib, smoked Virginia ham, lobster-stuffed sole and vegetarian lasagna. Sides are green bean and mushroom bake, whipped potatoes and candied sweet potatoes. Desserts include pies, bread pudding, brownies and cookies.

Papa Joe's — The restaurant will offer a special menu from noon to 7 p.m. at 1561 Peninsula Road in Akron, Thanksgiving Day. The a la carte menu includes a choice of appetizers from butternut squash bisque to sauerkraut balls and entree choices that include roast Ohio young turkey, roast prime rib, filet mignon, top sirloin steak, pumpkin sage gnocchi and more.

Thanksgiving meals you can order and reheat at home

Square Scullery — Take & Bake meals for a family of four are available for pickup from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at the restaurant's new location in North Hill, at 778 N. Main St., Akron. Ordering cutoff is Nov. 16.

The $185 traditional dinner includes half of a roasted maple and thyme turkey, cabernet and toasted black pepper gravy, cranberry mimosa marmalade, Akron Honey and oat milk bread, sage buttermilk and gruyere whipped potatoes, toasted pumpkin seed and sour apple brioche stuffing, sweet potato souffle with roasted root vegetables and rosemary marshmallow topping, wild mushroom green bean casserole and Towpath rum apple and pecan baklava.

D'Agnese's — The Akron restaurant will take orders through Nov. 21 at 566 White Pond Drive for Thanksgiving meal pickup from noon to 9 p.m. Nov. 22. D'Agnese's will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Dinner for four to six people includes roasted turkey, mashed Yukon gold potatoes, roasted root vegetables, cranberry sauce with orange, Italian herb bread dressing, green beans with blistered tomatoes, salad and rolls, plus choice of pumpkin bread pudding or cannolis. Cost is $129.

Bob Evans — A Premium Farmhouse Feast for 10 people ($154.99), which includes turkey, ham, sides and dessert, is packed cold so it's ready to heat at home. Slow-roasted Turkey Farmhouse Feasts for four or eight cost $89.99 or $119.99. Hickory-Smoked Ham Farmhouse Feasts for four or eight cost $79.99 or $109.99, and a Slow-Roasted Pot Roast Farmhouse Feast for 10 costs $159.99.

All Bob Evans locations will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Guests can dine in with a special Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration Platter for $18.99.

PopeyesPopeyes offers a Cajun-Style Turkey that's hand-rubbed and infused with a blend of Louisiana seasonings. The pre-cooked, flash-frozen turkeys that feed eight to 12 come with instructions for thawing and heating. A limited quantity are available for $59.99 at the Akron location at 620 N. Waterloo Restaurant & Catering — Sliced roasted turkey or sliced glazed ham dinners for eight to 10 guests cost $159. The meal includes candied sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, gravy, coleslaw, cheese ball and crackers, bread loaf and pumpkin pies. Add-ons including sauerkraut balls can be ordered.

Cooked dinners from grocery stores

A number of area grocery stores are offering full Thanksgiving dinners for customers to reheat at home. Dinners can be picked up as late as Thanksgiving Day at Market District, Buehler's and Whole Foods. Pickup is through Nov. 22 at Acme, Giant Eagle and Heinen's.

Acme Fresh Market — A Thanksgiving Feast for 10 costs $99.99, featuring a 10- to 12-pound cooked whole Butterball turkey or 4- to 5-pound boneless rotisserie turkey breast. Sides include 2 pounds of stuffing, 1 pound of cranberry relish, 4 pounds of mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, 2 pounds of fresh green bean casserole and a choice of pumpkin pie, apple pie or pumpkin cake roll.

Giant Eagle — Turkey dinners for six at Giant Eagle and Market District stores range from $69.99 for boneless turkey breast and fixings to $89.99 for an all-natural, whole turkey and sides. At Market District only, turkey breast and whole turkey meals serving eight, 10 or 12 cost from $89.99 to $179.99. Higher-priced packages include dessert. Ham, prime rib and lamb shank dinners are also available.

Buehler's — Turkey dinner for 10 ($109.99) includes a 10- to 12-pound Honeysuckle White turkey, 3 pounds of mashed potatoes, 2.75 pounds of green bean mushroom casserole, 3 pounds of bread dressing, 1 quart of turkey gravy and 12 dinner rolls. Deluxe dinners for 10 to 14, which add ham, macaroni and cheese and six more rolls, cost $159.99.

Additional turkeys as well as sides and pies may be ordered. Ham dinners for eight to 10 people also cost $109.99. Turkey dinners for two, which include sides and two slices of pumpkin pie, cost $32.99.

Heinen's — Dinner for five ($69.99) includes a 5-pound cooked turkey breast, 2.5 pounds of mashed potatoes and 2 pounds of crouton stuffing. A whole turkey dinner for up to 10 people ($149.99) includes a cooked turkey, 5 pounds of mashed potatoes, 4 pounds of crouton stuffing, 15.5 ounces of Heinen's cranberry relish and 2 quarts of turkey gravy. A turkey breast dinner for up to 10 ($159.99) includes two cooked turkey breasts and the same sides.

Seven Grains Natural Market — Heat-and-eat Thanksgiving dinners for four ($85.99) must be pre-ordered by Nov. 16 and picked up by Nov. 22 at 92 West Ave., Tallmadge. Dinner includes a blend of light and dark meat Ohio free-range turkey, mashed potatoes, organic turkey gravy, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans or Brussels sprouts, stuffing, cranberry relish, dinner rolls, organic tossed salad and half of a pumpkin or apple pie.

Whole Foods — A range of Thanksgiving dinner options include a classic roast whole turkey meal for four, eight or 12 people ($99.99-$239.99); a Thanksgiving feast for 12 ($399.99), which also includes maple bourbon ham and a number of sides; and a Thanksgiving extravaganza for 12 ($539.99), which adds an assortment of appetizers. Organic, cider-brined and vegan Thanksgiving meal options are also available.
