Don't miss these caramel and candy apples at the Jersey Shore

Pumpkin spice isn't the only star of the show this fall.

Orchards everywhere are teeming with apples to pick, and seasonal treats to try, like apple cider donuts and apple pie.

But for those who have a true sweet tooth, let's just cut to the chase and dip the whole fruit in sugary goodness.

Stop at these Jersey Shore orchards and candy shops this fall to get your pick of candy and caramel apples:

Battleview Orchards, Freehold

This massive orchard has every type of apple you could want, from Ginger Gold to Honey Crisp, and Macoun to Crispin.

But the ones they select for their famous caramel apples can vary, all depending on seasonal availability and size.

The varieties come with nuts or sprinkles.

Berkeley Sweet Shop, Seaside Heights

This historic candy store has all things caramel and candy apple.

Try plain caramel, caramel with nuts, or caramel dipped in rich chocolate. If you want to go a little crazy, try adding M&M's, almond butter crunch or other toppings.

If candy is more your speed, try them plain or covered in shaved coconut.

The apples sell out quickly though, so make sure to always call ahead to check for availability.

Criterion Chocolates, Eatontown

This nearly century-old chocolatier makes both caramel apples and candy apples, as well as tons of other candy and chocolate goodies.

The caramel apples can come dipped in peanuts, sprinkles and chocolate. Sprinkles can be rainbow, or holiday-themed. Right now, they're yellow, orange and brown for fall but for Christmas, they'll shift to red, white and green.

The classic red candy apples can come plain or dipped in shaved coconut. All are made fresh and sold in store, as well as at Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck.

If you want variety, Jenkinson's Sweet Shop's got you.

These fresh made caramel-dipped apples are a specialty here, and can be dipped in pretty much anything.

You name it, whatever you're craving: nuts, Reese's Pieces, Oreos, M&Ms and much more.

This candy shop serves a few different varieties of caramel apples, including plain and sprinkle covered.

But the real jaw droppers are the Gourmet Candy Apples.

These come in options like Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, which are made with tart Granny Smiths coated in caramel, dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt; as well as Chocolate Pecan Caramel.
