If you’re still waiting for a Donna Summer biopic starring Kelly Rowland, stay in line!

The highly-anticipated project hasn’t been taking off the table according to Summer’s daughter Brooklyn Sudano. But what’s been unclear until now is whether or not they agree with fans who’ve been calling for the Destiny’s Child singer to take on the role for the last few years.

Speaking to People earlier this week, Sudano revealed that she’s close with Rowland and has discussed the option but insists that a project of that magnitude—and the subsequent decisions that would come with it—takes time.

“Kelly and I are friends, so of course we have [spoken about it],” Brooklyn said. “I love Kelly. She is the best. So talented, so beautiful. We hear you.”

She later added: “These things take such a long time, and so it was really important to me and my family to get the doc out there, which we did. So there’s lots of conversations and we’ll see what the future holds. I can’t say too much now.”

Love to Love You, Donna Summer, co-directed by Sudano released in Feb. 2023.

As far as Sudano’s dad Bruce goes, he expressed his admiration of Kelly but leaned more towards a limited series as opposed to a biopic film.

“Yes, we’re interested but our inclination is to do a limited series,” he told xoNecole. “Because there is so much nuance and different phases of Donna’s life and career that would give us a little more latitude in telling her story. And connecting with people on a different level—not only on the music level but on the human level. That’s the road that we’re exploring now. As far as Kelly, we love Kelly. We’ll see!”
