Even though Donald Trump was not at Wednesday night’s Republican Party presidential debate, his fellow contenders for the GOP nomination were certainly talking about him. It was another prime opportunity for the former president’s archenemy, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, to slam him.

The debate at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, was the perfect spot for Christie to come out swinging against the presidential election frontrunner. The politician taunted Donald Trump by looking straight the camera lens, “Donald, I know you’re watching, you can’t help yourself.” That observation was likely true, but the former president probably didn’t expect the Disney diss that was coming his way. It was pretty juvenile, but you just know that company executives were sighing about being dragged into another political issue.
“You’re not here tonight, not because of polls, and not because of your indictments. You’re not here tonight because you’re afraid of being on the stage and defending your record,” Christie explained. “You’re ducking these things and let me tell you what’s going to happen. You keep doing that, and no one up here is going to call you Donald Trump anymore.” And that’s when Christie went in for the kill, “We’re going to call you Donald Duck!”

Christie might also be feeling a bit smug since he suggested back in late July that Donald Trump should sell Trump Tower to pay his mounting legal bills instead of “using other people’s money.” Well, the former president may have to liquidate his real estate assets, including the 5th Avenue property, as a result of a judge ruling that he was liable for business fraud. Their bitter rivalry will probably heat up even more as Donald Trump’s court cases get underway. He might be the leader of the GOP pack, but Christie isn’t going to forget to hit him with a few verbal jabs along the way.
