Jimmy Fallon Gives Rare Slap Back At Donald Trump Over “Be A Man” Slag; Host Donates To TV Scribes’ Stop Border Separation Campaign – UPDATE

UPDATE, 8:25 PM: As fellow NBC stars, Donald Trump and Jimmy Fallon used to be so close but now they are distinctly on different sides on family border separation and the former administration’s zero tolerance policy – as the Tonight Show main man made very clear in a swing back at the former Celebrity Apprentice host.

Just a couple of hours after President Trump slapped down nice guy and usually non-political Jimmy down for second guessing having his ex-NBCer on as a playful late-night guest during the 2016 campaign, Fallon has put his money where his heart is:

While the very well-paid Tonight Show frontman didn’t say exactly how much he’ll giving in Trump’s name to the activist Texas-based immigration services non-profit, Fallon is joining an already pretty established chorus of Hollywood scribes and more.

Now joined by writers, producers and cast from the likes of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, The CW’s Jane The Virgin and Riverdale, OWN’s Queen Sugar, NBC’s Superstore and ABC’s upcoming Demian Bichir starring Grand Hotel, among many more, RAICES was the organization that EPs from One Day at a Time and Vida focused their donations on. Appalled and outraged by the horrific tales of thousands of toddlers and other children being torn apart from their parents at the southern border, the Netflix and Starz series early last week sought to unite TV writers to publicly halt the measure and the tossing children in caged detention centers.

On June 21, Starz donated $10,000 to RAICES in support of Vida and the other shows.

The donation by the Chris Albrecht-run and Lionsgate-owned premium cabler came on the same day that Melania Trump headed off to Texas detention centers for photo ops wearing a jacket that kicked arrested parents and their children in the teeth with its “I really don’t care. Do U?” on the back.

It also came a day after her husband signed an executive order ceasing further separation of families at the border. Trump has since said he regrets inking the EO under duress as a political firestorm threatened to get out of control. Though a few hundred children were put back with their families over the weekend, according to Homeland Security, the new executive order also has no provisions for reuniting the over 3,000 children who have been ripped from their parents

Now we’ll wait for POTUS to respond to Fallon’s move today, probably in AM.

PREVIOUSLY, 6:11 PM: It’s been almost two years since Jimmy Fallon interviewed and playfully tussled the hair of Donald Trump on The Tonight Show. The episode received backlash and many argued that it normalized Trump’s political views and behavior. Now that we are deep into the Trump presidency and his steaming pile of controversies, Fallon continues to be haunted by the episode — and Trump wants him to suck it up.

Fallon admitted that he did not tussle his hair to “normalize him” or to stand by his political beliefs in a recent interview with THR.

He was clearly affected by the incident saying that he was sorry and didn’t mean to make anyone feel angry. He also admitted that he made a mistake and said, “looking back, I would do it differently.”

When Trump caught word of this he, like clockwork, took to Twitter and said: “@jimmyfallon is now whimpering to all that he did the famous “hair show” with me (where he seriously messed up my hair), & that he would have now done it differently because it is said to have “humanized” me-he is taking heat. He called & said “monster ratings.” Be a man Jimmy!”

Since Fallon’s Trump tussle, Colbert has been beating him in total viewers. Many say that it is because Colbert digs into Trump and issues surrounding the administration while Fallon remains light on politics. Even so, Fallon has said that ratings don’t matter to him.
