Remember back in 2018 when Donald Trump was besties with Kim Kardashian? Well, the 2020 election seems to have put a stop to their budding friendship, according to Jonathan Karl’s new book, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party. The author claims that the reality TV star put in one last bid for sentence commutations before his administration ended and that request didn’t land well.

According to an excerpt published by Axios, Donald Trump wouldn’t just do her a favor, he wanted something in return. “A source familiar with the conversations tells me Trump listened to her requests and demanded a straight-up quid pro quo. He would grant the commutations, he told Kardashian, if she leveraged her celebrity connections to get football stars who were friends of hers to come visit him at the White House,” the excerpt reads. Kim was reportedly receptive to the idea originally, but she received pushback from some of the athletes — they believed he was “too toxic” and “nobody wanted to be anywhere near him.”

That interaction didn’t deter the SKIMS founder one bit and she sought his help after his White House exit. She had found success in getting Alice Marie Johnson freed, so she hoped to move her prison reform cause along even further with an endorsement from Donald Trump. The excerpt continued, “Hell no, the former president told her. He wouldn’t do it. ‘You voted for Biden and now you come asking me for a favor?’ Trump told her. Kardashian has never publicly said who she voted for in 2020, but after Biden was projected the winner, she posted a tweet of Biden and Vice President–elect Kamala Harris along with three blue hearts. … “

Donald Trump reportedly ended the conservation with “a few more choice words” until “the line went dead.” That’s because “Trump had hung up on her.” An epic — and unlikely — friendship flamed out just as fast as it began, but of course, a Donald Trump spokesperson had the expected response to the book. “This filth either belongs in the discount bargain bin in the fiction section of the bookstore or should be repurposed as toilet paper,” they told Axios.

The book will likely be a bestseller.
